The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, together with his associates, held a meeting with the Governor of the Bank of Italy (Banca d'Italia), Mr. Fabio Panetta, during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) that are being held in Washington D.C.

Governor Ismaili during this meeting informed Mr. Panetta on the latest developments in the financial sector and other reforms undertaken by the CBK, including the enhancement of the legal and regulatory framework towards alignment with that of the European Union. In particular, he informed about the progress made and the actions taken by the CBK in preparation for the for the pre-application process for membership in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).

Governor Ismaili expressed his appreciation to the Bank of Italy for the continuous support for achieving the CBK's objectives, including the review of the opportunities and technical infrastructure necessary for functionalization of the participation in the EU Payment System (TIPS), a project which is being addressed regionally as well.

As part of the annual meetings, the CBK delegation will have bilateral meetings with counterparts from the partner central banks.
