House Majority Whip James Burchett Touts $3 Billion USDA Aid to Support Georgia Farmers

ATLANTA - Georgia House Majority Caucus Whip James Burchett (R-Waycross) applauds the recent announcement that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is expected to release $3 billion in aid to support struggling farmers. Whip Burchett recently met with senior USDA and White House officials, as well as U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, in Washington, D.C., to advocate for Georgia priorities, including securing federal funding for the state's farm communities.

"I'm proud to see the Trump Administration take decisive action to support our nation's farmers," said Whip Burchett. "After my recent visit to Washington advocating for Georgia priorities, I'm thrilled that this $3 billion in USDA aid will help hardworking Georgia farm families and rural communities. This is exactly the kind of leadership our agriculture industry needs, and I will keep fighting to secure every resource that protects our farmers, strengthens our economy and keeps Georgia's heartland thriving."

Whip Burchett praises the USDA's announcement that $3 billion in aid from the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) will help farms offset recent declines in agricultural purchases made by other countries. He notes that the CCC, a government-owned entity established to stabilize and support farm income and prices, is the source of this funding. He further highlights that the USDA will also resume Farm Service Agency (FSA) core operations, including farm loan processing and programs such as Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC), which provide financial support to agricultural producers.

Representative James Burchett represents the citizens of District 176, which includes Lanier County, as well as portions of Coffee, Atkinson, Lowndes and Ware counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 and currently serves as the House Majority Whip. He also serves on the Appropriations, Appropriations Subcommittee on Judicial, Ethics, Judiciary, Judiciary Non-Civil, Public and Community Health, Rural Development, State Properties and Transportation committees, as well as an Ex-Officio member of the Rules Committee.
