CSFD Incident Update: Dec. 13, 2025

On Saturday, December 13, at 2:43 p.m., the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) responded to multiple reports of a structure fire at 3170 N Century St. CSFD Fire Investigators responded and have determined the fire appears to have been intentionally set. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Regional Explosives Unit was notified and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Initial information was that a building was on fire and producing heavy smoke, visible across Colorado Springs. CSFD Engine 6 was in the area and immediately called a working structure fire and responded. Upon arrival at 2:48 p.m., Engine 6 personnel found a large pile of styrofoam and construction materials burning in an outdoor area of the involved business. Due to the size of the fire and the need for additional resources, a second alarm was quickly requested.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the pile and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings. Heavy equipment was brought in to break apart the pile to ensure no active fire remained. The fire was knocked down approximately 45 minutes after arrival. No injuries were reported.

The CSFD Fire Investigations Unit and CSPD Regional Explosives Unit work side by side to investigate any fire that appears to be criminal in nature.

All further information regarding the fire and investigation will come from the CSPD Public Affairs Section. This is an ongoing and active investigation; there is no further information to share at this time.
