SCO Secretary-General meets with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the PRC
On January 20, 2026, in Beijing, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the People's Republic of China Parakhat Durdyev.
During the meeting the Secretary-General expressed appreciation for the consistent interest of Turkmenistan in the SCO's activities and noted the active participation of the Turkmen side in its events. Nurlan Yermekbayev informed the Ambassador about the main outcomes of Tianjin Summit (September 1, 2025).
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the economic sphere, including transport and trade, as well as other current issues on the agenda.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan confirmed his country's commitment to the further development of multifaceted partnership with the SCO. The importance of cooperation among Eurasian countries in maintaining peace and stability, strengthening trade, economic and cultural ties, and preserving the environment was emphasized.
*SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev participated in the Forum of the International Year of Peace and Trust, held on December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat.
On August 5-7, 2025, in Awaza, Turkmenistan, a delegation of the Organization's Secretariat, led by Deputy Secretary-General Ahmad Saidmurodzoda, took part in the work of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, as well as in a special event on transport and interconnectivity.
