On June 14, 2025 at 5:34 p.m., two Winnipeg Transit supervisors were assaulted while checking on the well-being of a man aboard a bus in the area of Fort Street and Graham Avenue.Central District patrol officers arrived to find the suspect still struggling with the Transit Supervisors and took him into custody.
The supervisors had boarded a bus near Fort Street and Graham Avenue to check on the well-being of a man who was sleeping. Once awake, the man became agitated and assaulted both supervisors. They sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.
Transit Supervisors are designated as special constables and carry the powers and protections of a peace officer while performing their duties under section 80 of the Police Services Act.
23-year-old Diego PORTEOUS-JELDERShas been charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer and was detained in custody.
