Dennis McEntire Elected Chair of the State Transportation Board of Georgia

ATLANTA, GA - Dennis McEntire has been elected chair of the Georgia State Transportation Board (STB) during the board's monthly meeting held on Thursday, August 20. Also elected to the board's executive leadership team were Tim Golden as vice chair and Cathy Williams as secretary. The new positions are effective immediately. Board elections are held annually to ensure all regions of the state are represented at the executive leadership level on the board.

Elected to the STB in 2022, Chair McEntire represents Georgia's 3rd Congressional District (CD 3), which encompasses Carroll, Coweta, Douglas, Fayette, Haralson, Harris, Heard, Henry, Lamar, Meriwether, Muscogee, Pike, Spalding, Troup, and Upson counties. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Business Administration and has dedicated his career to public service and infrastructure. His extensive experience includes serving as general manager of Newnan Utilities, where he played a pivotal role in supporting the city's growth. Additionally, he has been actively involved in numerous community organizations, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to enhancing Georgia's infrastructure. His current term expires in April 2027.

The 14-member State Transportation Board is responsible for setting policies and governing the Georgia Department of Transportation. Board members are elected by a caucus of Georgia General Assembly members from their respective congressional districts and serve staggered, five-year terms.
