The City of Grande Prairie advises commuters that lane closures and traffic impacts will be in effect on 100 Street near 68 Avenue from May 22 to June 5 to support utility work being completed by Wapiti Gravel on behalf of Aquatera.
Southbound lanes on 100 Street at 68 Avenue will be closed for the duration of the project, with two-way traffic maintained using the northbound lanes. A temporary 30 km/h speed limit will also be in effect within approximately 100 metres of the intersection, and pedestrian detours will be in place around the work area. Transit Route 5 may also experience minor delays throughout the work.
Crews will generally work daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. However, because the work involves trench excavation, lane closures, barricades and traffic accommodations will remain in place outside working hours for the duration of the project.
Signage and barricades will begin being installed on Friday, May 22, with excavation work beginning Monday, May 25. Single lane closures may be in effect on Friday and Saturday as crews prepare the work zone.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, watch for signage and use caution when travelling through the area. The City thanks commuters for their patience and cooperation while this work is completed.
