(AUSTIN, TEXAS) - The Texas Bankers Foundation is providing $106,072 in donations to support flood recovery in the Texas Hill Country and volunteer fire departments serving Palo Pinto and Jack counties. The majority of the funds were presented Wednesday, October 28.
The donations reflect the generosity of contributors to the Foundation's recent Flood and Wildfire Relief Funds and Texas bankers' commitment to helping communities recover and rebuild.
"Recovery continues long after an emergency leaves the headlines," said Bowden Jones, of FirstBank Southwest in Amarillo and Chair of the Texas Bankers Foundation. "These contributions will help local organizations support their neighbors, assist small businesses working to recover and strengthen the volunteer fire departments their communities depend on. We are grateful to everyone who contributed."
Supporting Hill Country Recovery
In Kerrville, Texas Bankers Association Vice President of Member Relations Michele Carfello will present an $8,652 donation to Center Point Alliance for Progress and a $10,000 donation to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.
The Foundation is also providing $20,000 to LiftFund to assist small businesses impacted by the July floods. That check will be delivered separately.
These contributions follow the Foundation's August donation of $25,000 to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country to support the Uvalde community.
Supporting Volunteer Fire Departments
At a Volunteer Fire Department Appreciation Lunch, Brooks Akin, TBA vice president of government relations, will present donations of $37,455.56 to the Possum Kingdom Volunteer Fire Department and $29,964.44 to the Newport Volunteer Fire Department.
The two contributions total $67,420 and will support 18 volunteer fire departments serving Palo Pinto and Jack counties. The presentations will recognize the departments' service and the vital role volunteer firefighters play in protecting Texas communities.
Through its relief efforts, the Texas Bankers Foundation helps connect the generosity of the banking community with local organizations positioned to meet community needs.
