Netflix announces the start of production of En el círculo del asesino

Netflix has announced today the start of production of En el círculo del asesino , a new fiction series inspired by true crime. The project is directed by Sergio G. Sánchez ( Alma , Marrowbone ) y Pedro Martín-Calero ( The Wailing ) and features an outstanding cast led by Belén Rueda ( Un funeral de locos , The Perfect Family ), Gabriela Andrada ( Tell Me What You Want , Your Fault ) and Catalina Sopelana ( The Crystal Cuckoo , The Gardener ). The cast also includes Alfons Nieto, Francesc Orella, Loreto Mauleón, Nacho Fresneda, César Mateo, Carlos Serrano, Eneko Sagardoy, Paula Usero, Nao Albet and Albert Pla , among others.

A young journalist (Gabriela Andrada) reconstructs the story of the first serial killer in Spain's recent history for a podcast, amid growing tensions over his imminent release after serving his sentence. In order to access the protagonists of the past, she gets help from á seasoned journalist (Belén Rueda), who covered the case in her youth (Catalina Sopelana). En el círculo del asesino is a fiction series with seven episodes that take place in the present and the second half of the 90s in the Valencian Community.

The series is produced by Morena Films , with Pedro Uriol and Sergio G. Sánchez serving as executive producers. The scripts were written by Sergio G. Sánchez himself, in collaboration with Guillem Clua . Filming began today and will take place at various locations in the Valencian Community and Madrid over the coming weeks.
