ST. CHARLES COUNTY - Crews with the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project will shift all lanes of eastbound and westbound Interstate 64 near Lake St. Louis starting Tuesday night, May 5 as part of the interstate widening and bridge construction. All work is weather permitting.
The lane shift will allow for the removal and replacement of the existing deteriorated eastbound I-64 pavement and completion of the Peruque Creek bridge widening and bridge rehabilitation.
Eastbound I-64 lanes will be narrowed and shift to the left between Prospect Road and Lake St. Louis Boulevard beginning Tuesday, May 5 with nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The pavement reconstruction is expected to be completed July 1.
Westbound I-64 lanes will be narrowed and shifted to the left just within the area of the Peruque Creek Bridge with nightly lane closures from 8:30 p.m. to 9 a.m. for approximately four weeks during the bridge construction. The bridge is being widened and rehabilitated to accommodate the third lane of I-64.
This work is part of the widening of Interstate 64 with adding a third lane in each direction between the I-70/I-64 interchange and Route K.
The Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project covering the eastern portion of I-70 was awarded in November 2024. Construction is tentatively set to take place 2025-2028.
Missouri's FY2024 budget, approved through the state legislative process and signed into law by the governor, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
