Cassidy Announces Over $70.5 Million for Louisiana Disaster Recovery, Emergency Preparedness

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced Louisiana will receive $70,508,828.60 in federal funding from the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support disaster recovery and emergency preparedness efforts following Hurricanes Laura, Ida, and Francine, as well as response efforts to saltwater intrusion in Plaquemines Parish. The funding will support emergency protective measures, infrastructure repairs, and rebuilding efforts for communities, schools, and ports across the state.

"Louisiana families count on good roads, clean drinking water, and help they can trust when disasters hit," said Dr. Cassidy. "This funding helps communities recover, rebuild stronger, and prepare for future storms."

Funding Amount Recipient Project Description
$30,937,726.04 Terrebonne Parish This grant will provide federal funding for emergency protective measures, including temporary power generation at the Houma Generating Station following Hurricane Ida.
$10,493,107.20 Terrebonne Parish School Board This grant will provide federal funding for permanent repairs and flood protection improvements at the East Street Campus following Hurricane Ida.
$9,115,952.25 Terrebonne Parish Levee System This grant will provide federal funding for repairs and hazard mitigation improvements to the Isle de Jean Charles levee system following Hurricane Francine.
$8,973,728.90 Office of Risk Management This grant will provide federal funding for a consolidated alternate project to repair and upgrade facilities at McNeese University following Hurricane Laura.
$6,754,463.59 Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District This grant will provide federal funding for permanent repairs and construction of a consolidated warehouse facility at the bulk terminal following Hurricane Laura.
$2,045,911.37 St. Charles Parish This grant will provide federal funding for permanent repairs to the Bayou Des Allemands Bulkhead following Hurricane Ida.
$1,156,451.60 Terrebonne Parish This grant will provide federal funding for continued repairs to the Houma Power Plant following Hurricane Ida.
$1,031,487.75 Plaquemines Parish This grant will provide federal funding for emergency protective measures, including water distribution and temporary treatment systems, in response to saltwater intrusion in the Mississippi River.
