Creepy, Kooky, and Completely Muskie: The Addams Family Takes the Stage at Muskingum

But at Muskingum University this spring, that kooky charm comes to life with a Muskie twist as the campus community prepares for its production of The Addams Family, a musical that celebrates difference, family, and the hilarious chaos that comes with both.

Directed by Dr. Diane Rao, Professor of Theatre, the production brings to the heart of campus this devilishly delightful musical comedy filled with wit, heart, and toe-tapping tunes. The story centers on Wednesday Addams - the ultimate princess of darkness - who has grown up and fallen in love with a young man from a "normal" family. When she invites him (and his parents) home for dinner, the Addams clan must navigate their own quirks while confronting what it means to accept someone who doesn't quite fit their spooky mold - all with laughs, music, and unexpected warmth.

Behind the scenes, this production is also a celebration of Muskingum success. The show's design comes from alumna Cassie King '10, Associate Professor of Theatre and Department Chair, whose creative vision shapes the world unfolding on stage - from eerie set pieces to evocative visuals that invite audiences into the Addams household with style and spirit.
