School communities throughout the United States recognize the contributions of school psychologists November 3-7, 2025.
Throughout the week of November 3-7, 2025, the Clinical Child and School Psychology graduate program at SIUE will join thousands of other communities in celebrating National School Psychology Week (NSPW), with the theme "Finding Your Path." NSPW is an annual opportunity to recognize school psychologists' work helping children and youth thrive. Throughout the week, school communities across the United States will participate in activities and initiatives designed to celebrate these essential professionals. School psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators and others to create safe, healthy and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school and the community. They apply expertise in mental health, learning and behavior to help children and youth succeed socially, behaviorally, emotionally and academically.
This year's theme, "Finding Your Path," recognizes the ways that school psychologists take an active role in helping everyone in their communities determine paths to learning, growth, and overall well-being that meet their unique needs. Through their deep expertise and training in consultation, collaboration, and evidence-based practices, school psychologists empower others to set their destination and find a route that fits their needs, all while sharing tools to help them thrive along the way.
NASP has developed a variety of resources for NSPW to help students, families and communities recognize National School Psychology Week. As part of National School Psychology Week, school psychology students and faculty at SIUE will organize activities and share resources to help in finding your path. SIUE school psychology students will be presenting the NASP Exposure Project to local area high school students and to undergraduate classes at SIUE, sharing information about school psychology and the ways that school psychologists work to support student, families, schools and communities.
Shawna Rader Kelly, President of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), notes that "NSPW is a wonderful opportunity to recognize school psychologists for the transformative impact they have on school communities. School psychologists are indispensable leaders in their communities who, as suggested by this year's theme, ensure that all children and youth find their unique path to success in school and throughout life."
The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) represents 24,000 school psychologists throughout the United States and abroad. NASP empowers school psychologists to promote the learning, behavior, and mental health of all children and youth.
Sarah Conoyer, PhD, NCSP, professor and director of the Clinical Child and School Psychology Graduate Program, shared her unique perspective as an advisor to the program's students.
"As an alumna of SIUE, which played a pivotal role in helping me discover my path to school psychology, I'm honored to now serve here, supporting both undergraduate and graduate students as they pursue their own journeys toward success in the field," said Conoyer. "As faculty advisor for the Graduate Organization of Child and Adolescent Psychology Students (GOCAPS), I have the privilege of mentoring our students as they engage in outreach and advocacy efforts, particularly during National School Psychology Week, when we highlight the impact of our profession and the meaningful ways our students contribute to local schools and communities in our area."
