Extra Patrols To Focus On Reducing Speeding, Stop Sign Violations In Neighborhoods
(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.) - Mayor Jared M. Kraham on Tuesday announced Binghamton Police are increasing traffic patrols heading into summer, with a focus on reducing speeding and stop sign violations.
Mayor Kraham said: "I've heard from a growing number of residents concerned about drivers going too fast through their neighborhoods or running stop signs, putting others at risk. Binghamton Police will be cracking down on speeding and other traffic violations over the coming weeks, with extra patrols focused on reducing the number of drivers who break the law and make our neighborhoods less safe. Alongside foot and bike patrols and other community policing initiatives, this increased traffic enforcement is part of our broader effort to improve neighborhood safety across Binghamton."
Binghamton Police will focus enforcement on high-traffic residential areas, with special attention given to school zones, City park zones and hospital zones Citywide.
The Department will also use a portable speed trailer, which displays drivers' speed as they pass, to help deter speeding.
To report traffic concerns or for questions, residents can contact the Binghamton Traffic Division at (607) 772-7095 or the Mayor's Office at (607) 772-7001.
