WASHINGTON - U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) today met with members of Bloomington-Normal One Voice to discuss economic development and infrastructure improvement projects in Central Illinois. During their meeting, Durbin and One Voice discussed local water infrastructure needs, including the Gridley Street Sewer Separation Project and the Waterlift Project to improve water access for parts of McLean County. The group also spoke about the need for a new passenger boarding bridge at the Central Illinois Regional Airport.
Durbin then received an update on Illinois State University's innovation and workforce initiative, which aims to serve as a business incubator, providing shared workspaces and laboratories for entrepreneurs and community stakeholders seeking to expand their small business.
"Today, I hosted members of Bloomington-Normal One Voice in the Capitol to discuss how the federal government can continue to support Central Illinois' local projects - from water infrastructure needs to Central Illinois Regional Airport bridge upgrades. I will continue working to try and help McLean County make these projects a reality," Durbin said.
