#TuftsGivingTuesday Draws Record-Breaking Support

This year, #TuftsGivingTuesday was record breaking, with the community rallying together to support programs and schools across the university. A total of more than $5.51 million was raised.

The day of giving saw the highest numbers of donors to Tufts ever, with 9,797 people participating, surpassing 2024's total of 9,030. The new donor record was bolstered by the Give Anywhere matching gift challenge, through which for every 2,500 donors to any area at Tufts, an additional $25,000 was given by a group of donors.

All gifts to undergraduate financial aid were matcheddollar-for-dollar. This match supported the Tufts Tuition Pact, which will start in 2026 and will help ensure every admitted student has the financial ability to attend Tufts.

"Financial aid is an important cause for me," said Meaghan Edmonds, A14, a Tufts class volunteer. "It made my Tufts experience possible, so I feel it's important to give back to that. I also am really excited about the announcement that for [incoming] Tufts students whose families make under $150,000 a year, Tufts will be tuition-free."

Volunteers like Edmonds helped spread the word by asking classmates, family, and friends to give. The number of clicks and donations they generated through their unique links showcased how #TuftsGivingTuesday is truly a community-wide effort.

Edmonds appreciated that donor challenges encourage small gifts and help donations have a bigger and more meaningful impact.

"I think that is so critical in making the Tufts experience and education possible for folks, regardless of their economic background, so I am thrilled to be giving tofinancial aid," she said.

Tisch College of Civic Life was the first of the schools and programs to reach its donor goal and nearly doubled it with 499 donors raising $221,902. More schools that surpassed their goals included the Cumming School of Veterinary Medicine, the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and The Fletcher School.

Athletics met and surpassed itsgoal of raising $1.5 million, with teams competing for extra funds on the donor leaderboards, with women's lacrosse, track and field/cross country, and softball topping their divisions in donor participation.

Other programs that achieved and surpassed their goals included the Derby Entrepreneurship Center, Hillel, and the University Chaplaincy.

Classes celebrating their reunions in 2026 gave back as well, with participation highest among the Class of 2025 and the most money raised by the Class of 1996.

Donors had different relationships toTufts, with the largest number being alumni (37%). Students (15%) and parents (17%) also gave generously, as did faculty, staff, and friends of the university, including international donors.

#TuftsGivingTuesday this year received gifts from 49 states and from countries around the world. Support arrived from China, Panama, Kenya, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Turkey, Australia, and Thailand, among others.

Students, staff, and volunteers rallied support on social media, raising funds for groups like Club Field Hockey, the Africana Center, and Mock Trial.

Organizers of the event thanked all who helped make #TuftsGivingTuesday a banner day.

"Because of you, this #TuftsGivingTuesday became one forthe record books," said Robert Sanderson, director of annual giving strategy and analytics in a message on the giving website. "Our community rallied with an incredible spirit of generosity. You didn't just help us surpass our goal; it strengthened every corner of the university."

"Each gift-no matter the size-makes a direct impact," he added. "Students from all our schools, across all our campuses, will be able to learn, find support, complete internships, pursue world-class research with faculty, and become future leaders thanks to your generosity."
