Preferred candidate for new post of Chief Education Officer

Fiona Robertson, currently Headteacher at Perth Grammar School, is expected take up the post in December of Chief Education Officer, leading strategic development across all stages of learning in Shetland schools. This post, with a dual role as Executive Manager - Education and Learning, will see Ms Robertson work collaboratively with schools, families, and community partners to ensure improved outcomes for all children and young people.

The Chief Education Officer will play a pivotal role in tackling the current challenges facing education in Shetland, including improving attendance and attainment, strengthening relationships across schools and communities, and enhancing Support for Learning.

Ms Robertson has been Headteacher at Perth Grammar School since 2016. Before then she was a Quality Improvement Officer with Aberdeenshire Council, and Depute Headteacher at Mackie Academy, Stonehaven. She has a range of experience nationally, including as an Advisory Group member for Learning Places Scotland.
