City Community Safety Director Recognized with National Award

The National Offices of Violence Prevention Network (NOVPN) has recognized Greensboro Community Safety Director Latisha McNeil with the Trailblazer of the Year Award. The NOVPN's national award celebrates directors who show an unwavering dedication to their communities and are leading the way with innovative, approaches to violence reduction in their city/state.

NOVPN pointed to McNeil's commitment to co-producing violence reduction solutions with community partners in Greensboro. She was instrumental in the creation of the City's Comprehensive Community Safety plan, and has been involved in initiatives to reimagine public safety nationwide.

The two other 2025 Trailblazer Award winners represent New York state and Los Angeles County.

About the CSD: The City's CSD takes a holistic, collaborative approach to improving Greensboro's public safety through community-centered prevention initiatives, crisis intervention services to help de-escalate violence, and long-term, intensive case management for individuals whose issues-such as mental health, substance use, and homelessness-have put them in frequent contact with law enforcement.

About NOVPN: The NOVPN is a learning community of governmental agencies working to reduce violence and improve lives.
