Lost Birds are found in It's Your City

Published November 8 2024

The Lost Bird Project, a collection of large sculptures depicting extinct birds, is found in the Fall-Winter issue of It's Your City, which is going to all residential and business addresses in Bellevue this week. Well, the stunning installation is also found, literally, at the Urban Meadow at the Bellevue Botanical Garden this year.

Other highlights of the issue include:

  • New tree protections: To help preserve Bellevue's tree canopy, the City Council approved updates to the city's tree codes that add protections for "significant" and "landmark" trees.
  • Great Neighborhoods: Neighborhood area planning, intended to address changing needs and conditions at the micro-local level, is underway in Crossroads and Newport.
  • Transportation levy making a difference: Eight years into the neighborhood transportation levy, the city has been able to add crosswalks, streetlights, sidewalks, bike lanes, turn lanes and more to every neighborhood in Bellevue.

For this issue's Council Corner column, Councilmember Jared Nieuwenhuis celebrates the Keep Bellevue Beautiful program, a partnership with residents and businesses that continues to produce an array of dividends for the city.

The next issue of It's Your City will come out in February or March. If you have questions or comments, please contact us. And for more information on Bellevue's coordinated communications program, please visit our newsroom.
