HMC Brownwood earns state, national stroke recognition

BROWNWOOD, Texas - Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood (HMCB) has earned both national certification and state designation for its stroke program, reinforcing its commitment to providing specialized stroke care for Brownwood and the surrounding communities.

HMCB recently received Primary Stroke Center Certification from DNV Healthcare USA Inc. and was designated a Primary (Level III) Stroke Facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

"Earning the DNV certification and state designation reflects the hard work and commitment of our physicians, nurses and support teams who have built a coordinated stroke program focused on delivering timely, high-quality care," said Krista Baty, chief administrative officer at HMCB. "When a stroke occurs, every minute matters, and these achievements demonstrate our commitment to ensuring patients in Brownwood and the surrounding communities have access to advanced stroke care."

For stroke patients, getting the right care quickly can make a significant difference in recovery, which makes access to specialized treatment in Brownwood especially important.

The DNV certification follows a survey conducted in July and confirms HMCB's compliance with national standards for stroke care. The state designation is awarded to hospitals that meet Texas standards for stroke treatment and actively participate in improving stroke care across their region.

Together, the certification and designation affirm HMCB's commitment to delivering rapid evaluation, treatment and coordinated care for patients experiencing stroke symptoms while expanding access to specialized healthcare services in Brownwood and surrounding communities.
