In Mesquite, Senator Rosen, Mayor Whipple Discuss Tourism, Visit New Fire Station

MESQUITE, NV - U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) recently joined Mayor Jesse Whipple in hosting a discussion in Mesquite, Nevada, with local tourism and small business leaders and visited the newly opened Fire Station 2. At the station, she met with Mesquite Fire Chief Jayson Andrus and the rest of the crew to hear firsthand about the work this new station will do to keep families in Mesquite safe. Senator Rosen has been leading efforts to support our first responders and fire prevention efforts. In 2025, Senator Rosen helped secure $8 million in federal funding for Nevada's firefighters through the Fire Grants and Safety Act she helped pass into law.

Senator Rosen also hosted a roundtable discussion with Mesquite's tourism sector and small business owners to hear their perspectives on the growth of the city's tourism industry and its benefits to the local economy. Senator Rosen has been working to boost the tourism industry, helping to introduce the Vital Investment in Sustaining International Tourism to the USA (VISIT USA) Act to fully restore funding for the promotion of travel to the U.S.

"As one of Nevada's U.S. Senators, I'm working every single day to improve life for hardworking families and make sure communities all across our state have the resources they need," said Senator Rosen. "From supporting our first responders to boosting the tourism industry and local economy, I'm working with local leaders to ensure families in Mesquite can be safe and thrive. I'm grateful to everyone who met with me for sharing their insights and stories, which I'll bring with me to the Senate so I can keep fighting for every corner of Nevada."

Senator Rosen has fought to support all Nevadan communities at the federal level. Last year, she helped secure nearly $30 million in federal funding for airports across Nevada, including nearly $1 million for Mesquite Airport. Last year, she secured more than $623 million in federal funding for Nevada. Already this year, she has secured millions for Nevada's housing, airports, and rural communities.
