Celebrating Arbor Day in Rancho Cordova

Each year, the city celebrates an important part of Rancho Cordova's infrastructure: our trees! This year, we celebrated #ArborDay at Lincoln Village Community Park in partnership with the Cordova Recreation & Park District (CRPD).

The program was emceed by CRPD Director Jill Nunes and featured remarks from Board Chair Daniel Langan, as well as speakers from Sac Metro Fire and CAL FIRE. Mayor Gatewood presented a proclamation to CRPD recognizing the importance of urban forestry. Representatives from Supervisor Pat Hume's office were also in attendance.

Community volunteers then helped plant 18 trees including Redbud, Live Oak, Deodar Cedar, and Ginkgo trees, which were donated by Sacramento Tree Foundation and SMUD, expanding the urban canopy and enhancing the city's beauty. West Coast Arborists also provided seedlings for residents to take home and plant.
