Rehabilitation work on westbound Neighorn Branch bridge to begin Oct. 8
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that U.S. Route 54 south of Jefferson City will once again narrow to one lane in each direction this week. Traffic will shift to a head-to-head configuration through November for the second phase of bridge work over the Neighorn Branch.
The new eastbound bridge over the Neighorn branch is complete and construction crews will now work to rehabilitate the westbound structure. To facilitate this, U.S. Route 54 will again narrow to one lane in each direction and all traffic will shift onto the eastbound lanes in a head-to-head configuration.
The traffic shift is planned for the evenings of Oct. 7 and Oct. 8, and will be fully in place by Thursday morning, Oct. 9. A 12-foot width restriction and speed reductions as low as 45 mph will be in place through the work zone.
As with the first phase of work for the Neighorn Branch bridges, Route CC, Shepherd Hills Road, and Wooded Hills Lane will remain open during construction. However, there will be turning restrictions:
The project is expected to be complete at the end of November. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
MoDOT awarded a $2,849,278.23 contract to Don Schnieders Excavating Company, Inc. to complete the project.
