The driver of a Dodge Journey involved in Sunday morning's multi-vehicle crash on I-40 West in Hermitage has died as a result of his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates the Journey rear ended a Nissan van and was disabled due to the crash.
The Nissan pulled off to the right shoulder of the interstate. The driver of the Journey, Darius Woods, 29, was stopped in the far left lane of the interstate and was outside of the vehicle inspecting the damage to his vehicle when he was struck by an Acura MDX.
Woods was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died Sunday night.
The 46-year-old driver of the Acura was also transported to Vanderbilt with critical injuries.
