The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles joins the community in mourning the loss of Dolores Huerta, an undeniable giant of the civil rights movement and a fierce, lifelong champion for justice.
Dolores Huerta's legacy stretches far beyond the fields where her historic advocacy began. Here in Los Angeles, her enduring spirit touched our communities through her profound commitment to public housing advocacy and her belief that stable, dignified housing is a fundamental human right. Her presence at the groundbreakings and dedication of affordable housing initiatives in our city, some for which she is named, served as a powerful reminder of our shared mission to uplift and support our most vulnerable neighbors.
We stand in solidarity with her family, loved ones, and the millions inspired by her work. HACLA remains dedicated to honoring her memory by continuing to advocate for equity, community empowerment, and housing security for all Angelenos. ¡Dolores Huerta, Presente!
