Volusia County's Community Assistance Division will distribute pool and door/window alarms without charge at two regional libraries to help keep children and families safe around water.

These life-saving devices, which are limited to one of each type per household, will be provided from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 4, while supplies last, at these locations:

  • Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave.
  • Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle

To be eligible for an alarm, individuals must be a Volusia County resident, as shown by proof of residency with an official document, at least 18 years old, and willing to sign a release and waiver form. Households that received a pool alarm from Volusia County in 2025 will be ineligible to receive an additional alarm on Sept. 4.

Pool alarms are an essential layer of protection that can alert homeowners the moment someone enters their pool, while door and window alarms sound a loud, continuous alert the moment a person opens an entry point leading to a swimming pool. Combined with proper supervision and safety barriers, they're a proven way to prevent water-related accidents.
