Nominations open for Mayor's Young Leader Awards through Aug. 31

Know a young person making a difference? The City of Colorado Springs is encouraging residents to help recognize the next generation of leaders by nominating an outstanding young person for the Mayor's Young Leader Awards (MYLA). Nominations are open through Monday, Aug. 31, honoring youth who are making a positive difference in schools, neighborhoods and the community.

The annual Mayor's Young Leader Awards recognize young people whose leadership, service and dedication make Colorado Springs a better place to live, work and play. Whether they're volunteering in their neighborhoods, leading at school, supporting local organizations or inspiring others through their actions, these young leaders are helping shape the future of the community.

"Some of our community's greatest leaders are young people who are already making a difference through their compassion, service and commitment to others," said City of Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade. "If you know a young person who is creating positive change, I encourage you to help recognize their impact by nominating them for a Mayor's Young Leader Award. Together, we can celebrate the next generation of leaders who are helping Colorado Springs thrive."

Community members, educators, coaches, mentors, family members and peers are encouraged to submit nominations for deserving youth. A nomination is a meaningful way to recognize young people whose leadership often happens quietly but leaves a lasting impact on classmates, neighbors and the broader community. Award recipients will be recognized during the Mayor's Young Leader Awards ceremony later this year.
