On December 18, 2025, Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Hu Changchun, upon invitation, attended a reception hosted by the Embassy of Somalia in China to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Somalia diplomatic relations, and delivered a speech.

Special Envoy Hu Changchun reviewed the history of mutual respect, mutual trust, mutual support, sincere cooperation, and exchanges and mutual learning between China and Somalia since the establishment of diplomatic relations. He said that China is ready to work with Somalia to turn the new blueprint for China-Somalia relations outlined by the two heads of state into more tangible results and enrich the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Somali Minister of Commerce and Industry Gamal Mohamed Hassan highly praised the bilateral relationship and expressed willingness to continue the traditional friendship with China and deepen practical cooperation in various fields.

Somali Ambassador to China Hodan Osman Abdi expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for its valuable support to Somalia's social development and stated the willingness to actively promote the development of bilateral relations for the better benefit of the peoples of both countries.
