Closure Alert: Safety Notices and Restrictions at Laurel Hill WMA

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. --- Visitors to Laurel Hill Wildlife Management Area should be aware that certain roads and trails will be impacted due to ongoing logging operations.

Caution should be used by trail riders, anglers, and hunters on management area roadways that will be utilized by heavy equipment and trucks. Several horseback riding trails are temporarily closed while work is underway and the areas where logging will be taking place are restricted to the public due to safety concerns.

While these closures may cause short-term inconvenience, logging is a vital management tool. It helps maintain diverse habitat across the landscape, benefits game and non-game wildlife alike, and supports healthy wildlife populations for the long term.

Area managers have posted maps showing closures and caution areas at trailheads, lakes, and the WMA headquarters. Please check these maps before heading out and use caution around active work zones.

We'll continue to share updates as operations progress.

Thank you for your patience and for helping us keep Laurel Hill safe and productive for everyone who enjoys it.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is responsible for protecting, managing, and conserving fish and wildlife species for the benefit of Tennesseans and visitors. The Agency also maintains public safety through law enforcement and safety education on waterways.
