CES at Frostburg State University Presents Yarn

Mar 30, 2026 9:00 AM

The Cultural Events Series at Frostburg State University will present Yarn in a vibrant performance of Americana, alt-country and roots music on Saturday, April 18, at 8 p.m., in Frostburg's historic Palace Theatre, 31 E. Main St. Immediately following the performance, WFWM station director Chuck Dicken will join the musicians for a conversation with the audience.

Formed in 2007 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the masterful roots musicians of Yarn have since become known for their high-energy live performances, rich harmonies and tight musicianship. The band seamlessly integrates elements of country, folk and rock, resulting in a warm, resonant sound that has earned high praise from fans and critics alike and led to performances alongside luminaries like Dwight Yoakam, Marty Stuart and Alison Krauss. Throughout it all, they have drawn audiences into their musical web, delivering memorable songs that reverberate and linger in listeners' hearts and souls.

Yarn has charted repeatedly on the Americana Music Association album and singles charts and been featured heavily on Sirius XM's Outlaw Country, including their single "Traveling Kind." Their 2024 release, "Born Blessed, Grateful & Alive," found the band resuming a busy tour schedule and showcasing at AmericanaFest as well as headlining their own sold-out annual festival, The Yarnival. The album also spent weeks on Americana and alt-country radio charts.

On their new album, "Saturday Night Sermon," the Carolina-based rockers lean into classic country. The album opens with its title track, a soaring, guitar-and choir-filled introduction that sets a positive, uplifting tone for the journey ahead. From the singalong encouragement of "Let the Universe" to the heartfelt ballad "Where We Land," the collection navigates gratitude, love, and the human condition, culminating in the reflective, comforting "A Welcome New Home." Rock-tinged tracks like "Longshot," "Might as Well Be King" and "Never Enough" add edge and contrast.
