Featuring New Tables, Beloved Events, and a Food Drive to Support Island Harvest
STONY BROOK, NY - September 24, 2025 - Stony Brook University is hosting CommUniversity Day, an interactive celebration that invites local community members to experience the university and Stony Brook Medicine's inner-workings and many of the public services it provides.
This free public event will take place on the Academic Mall on the University's West Campus on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 12-4 pm.
Introduced in 2017, CommUniversity Day connects Stony Brook students, faculty, staff and employees with members of the surrounding community for a day of fun, learning, and exploration.
This year, more than 100 departments and community partners are registered to participate. In addition to bringing back beloved programming, like the LEGO® competition, the Ice Cream Social and the Rubber Duck Race, CommUniversity Day is previewing some new tables, like an expanded Community Partners Neighborhood, which includes community organizations that have proudly partnered with Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Medicine on events and programming.
CommUniversity Day will feature "neighborhoods" that highlight different programs and interests at Stony Brook University. These neighborhoods include Arts, Community, Find Out in 15, Food, Health, Safety, Tech & Discovery and Traditions, each with their own unique array of events and activities.
Stony Brook will also be holding a food drive to benefit Island Harvest, the hunger-relief organization with a mission to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island. Attendees are asked to bring two non-perishable food items in exchange for a free cooler bag while supplies last.
