Ambassadors Mohamed Salah Eddine Belaid of Algeria and Reem Mohammad Al Khaled of Kuwait presented their letters of credentials to President Alar Karis in Kadriorg today.
During his meeting with the Algerian ambassador, the Estonian head of state talked about opportunities for fostering bilateral relations at both the political and economic levels. Conflicts in different parts of the world were also discussed. President Karis reaffirmed Estonia's unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and condemned Russia's aggression. "Estonia supports every effort that will lead to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine," he remarked, stressing the need to back international sanctions against Russia.
At his meeting with the Kuwaiti ambassador, President Karis highlighted the good relations between their two countries and areas in which they could work more closely together, especially the digital field. The Estonian head of state thanked Kuwait for its principled support of Ukraine and its condemnation of Russia's aggression. The importance of reforming the UN Security Council was also discussed.
The Algerian ambassador resides in Warsaw. The Kuwaiti ambassador is based in Berlin.
