Civil engineering students tested their design and racing skills in the "America's Cup of Civil Engineering," building and competing with a hand-built concrete canoe, advancing to the finals for the first time in school history.

Every year, students from the University of Miami College of Engineering's American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter take on a rather unusual challenge: building a canoe out of concrete and racing it in what is known as the "America's Cup of Civil Engineering," a competition showcasing engineering excellence, hydrodynamic design, and racing technique.
