CBP officers seize $605K in cocaine at Pharr International Bridge

PHARR, Texas-U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Hidalgo Port of Entry recently seized cocaine valued at more than $605,000 hidden within a passenger vehicle.

"This seizure reflects our officers' steadfast commitment to the border security mission and reflects the effective use of technology and inspection skill," said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo Port of Entry. "Thanks to their successful work, these narcotics will not enter nor wreak havoc on American streets."

The seizure occurred on April 6 at the Pharr International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a Chrysler 200 for secondary inspection. Following a canine and nonintrusive inspection system examination, CBP officers discovered 19 packages containing a total of 45.37 pounds of suspected cocaine. The narcotics have a street value of $605,792.

CBP seized the narcotics. Homeland Security Investigations special agents are investigating the seizure.
