IDB Invest Expands Access to Higher Education in Mexico with Lottus Education

WASHINGTON - IDB Invest approved an equity investment of 200 million Mexican pesos in Lottus Education, one of the leading higher education platforms in Latin America and the Caribbean, to expand access to quality education in Mexico.

The project aims to scale the number of students served, improve graduation rates, and strengthen graduates' employability, contributing to human capital development and greater economic opportunities in the country.

The transaction consists of a direct equity investment of 200 million Mexican pesos as part of a capital round led by Kans Capital. The resources will be used to invest in infrastructure, equipment, and to strengthen Lottus Education's technology platform to support its growth, including digital solutions that enhance academic management, the student experience, and the scalability of its education model.

In addition to financing, IDB Invest will provide technical advisory services to support Lottus in developing a strategy to expand access to higher education and strengthen development opportunities for its employees. The advisory services include the design of a scholarship program and support to strengthen corporate governance practices. Additional support will be provided to enhance institutional management, transparency, and corporate practices in line with international standards.
