AUC Chairperson held bilateral meetings with representatives of Member States

On the margins of the 39th AU Summit, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the AU Commission held a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of Member States:-

1.⁠ ⁠With Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug of #Mauritania. Their discussions focused on migration, border management, and strengthening the AU's continental leadership. Both sides agreed on the need to rethink Africa's place in a rapidly polarised world and to develop a new model for a more effective Union, including a proposed high-level Taskforce to shape strategic reforms.

2.⁠ ⁠With President Azali Assoumani of #Comoros. Deliberations covered regional political developments, AU's role in promoting stability and development, and the Mayotte issue. The Chairperson expressed readiness to support AU-led mechanisms, including dispatching the AU Permanent to Moroni to develop options within existing AU instruments.

3.⁠ ⁠With President Daniel Chapo of #Mozambique. The Chairperson conveyed his solidarity following devastating floods. Discussions addressed climate impacts, terrorism, economic recovery, energy deficits, infrastructure corridors, hydrocarbons, regional integration within SADC, and migration as a driver of development.

4.⁠ ⁠With H.H. Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan of the #UAE. The Chairperson reaffirmed commitment to enhanced AU-UAE cooperation, especially on peace, security, and stability.

5.⁠ ⁠With President Mohamed Al-Menfi of #Libya. The Chairperson welcomed the Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation, reaffirming AU support for an inclusive path toward lasting peace.
