ST. LOUIS - Behind every breakthrough in healthcare technology is a leader helping move care forward - like Mercy's own Kerry Bommarito. Mercy's vice president of enterprise AI and decision intelligence has again been recognized by Becker's Hospital Review, this time as part of its 2026 list of "Women in Health IT to Know."

The list highlights 170 leaders across the country who are using technology to make care safer, more effective and more accessible.

Bommarito's work at Mercy reflects that same focus. She helps lead the thoughtful use of artificial intelligence to support caregivers and improve patient care. Under her leadership, Mercy has developed more than a dozen real-time models built directly into the electronic health record, giving clinicians helpful insights right when they need them most.

She also led the rollout of Mercy's first large-scale generative AI tool for nurses, designed to support patients moving from the emergency department to inpatient care. With more than 130,000 summaries created so far, the tool is helping reduce paperwork while improving communication during critical moments.

Beyond Mercy, Bommarito contributes to national efforts to guide how AI is used in healthcare. Through her work with the Coalition for Health AI, she helps shape practices that promote safe, fair and trustworthy technology.
