The City of Alexandria is continuing its efforts to protect and restore natural areas in our parks. Beginning in August, the City has authorized Environmental Quality Resources, LLC (EQR) to conduct invasive species management in parks and natural areas throughout Alexandria.
Treatment will take place quarterly and is weather-dependent. The City's Natural Resources Division will oversee the work to ensure it follows environmental protection standards and project requirements.
The parks currently scheduled for treatment from September through December include:
Please note: The schedule is tentative and may change based on weather and site conditions.
Residents and park visitors are asked not to conduct unauthorized vegetation clearing, trimming, or other landscape work in City parks. Unapproved work can interfere with environmental restoration efforts and ongoing efforts to protect natural resources.
City staff from the Natural Resources, Urban Forestry, and Park Maintenance Divisions will continue to monitor conditions and care for these areas as part of Alexandria's ongoing park stewardship efforts.
