Urgent activation of the European Union Solidarity Fund and the EU Recovery Plan following the floods in Andalusia

10.2.2026

Question for written answer E-000537/2026
to the Commission
Rule 144
Carmen Crespo Díaz (PPE)

In view of the serious floods that recently hit the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, causing widespread damage to basic infrastructure, severely affecting the road network, disrupting essential municipal services, and causing significant economic losses in the productive sectors, including agriculture, tourism and hospitality, with estimates indicating that more than 75 % of the surface area was affected and resulting in losses of around 20 % of agricultural production:

  • 1.Has the Commission received a formal request from the Spanish Government for the urgent activation of the European Union Solidarity Fund in favour of Andalusia?
  • 2.If so, what is the status of this request and what are the Commission's timeframes for its assessment and possible activation?
  • 3.Also, does the Commission intend to mobilise the EU Recovery Plan, the crisis reserve or other exceptional support instruments to address the severe damage caused by these floods?
