What to Watch for at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca:

• Monterey Mastery: Honda has won every race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca since the NTT INDYCAR SERIES returned to the track in 2019. Colton Herta (2019, 2021) and Alex Palou (2022, 2024) share two wins apiece while Scott Dixon found victory lane in 2023. Honda's first win at Laguna Seca came in 1996, following 'The Pass' in the Corkscrew by Alex Zanardi on Bryan Herta. Zanardi's Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Jimmy Vasser claimed the win in 1997, while Helio Castroneves led a 1-2-3 Honda sweep at Laguna Seca in 2000.

• Alex Palou and Co: The #10 Chip Ganassi Racing team has been dominant in 2025 so far. Palou leads the championship by 99 points with four rounds remaining following seven victories thus far-including his first Indy 500 triumph. The three-time and reigning series champion is on the cusp of his fourth title in five years and returns to a track where he has previously scored two wins. While Palou mathematically cannot clinch in Monterey, if he can leave WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca with an impressive eighth win on the year, he could wrap up the championship with two races to go.

• Pole and Podium Parity: While just three Honda drivers have scored wins 11 of 13 NTT INDYCAR RACES so far this year-Palou (7), Kyle Kirkwood (3), Scott Dixon (1) every Honda-powered team has scored a pole or podium finish so far in 2025. Chip Ganassi Racing has seen all three of their drivers on the rostrum, with Palou and Dixon's victories and Kyffin Simpson scoring his first-career IndyCar podium last time out in Toronto. Kyle Kirkwood has stood on the top step three times this year and was joined by Andretti Global teammate Colton Herta on the podium in Detroit. Both Meyer Shank Racing teammates, Felix Rosenqvist and Marcus Armstrong have a podium finish apiece. Dale Coyne Racing's Rinus VeeKay scored the team's first podium of 2025, and his own first podium since joining the Honda-backed team this season, with a second-place result in Toronto. And Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, while still chasing their first podium of the year, have been fighting up front with rookie Louis Foster taking pole at Road America. Foster is in a tight battle for Rookie of the Year title with zero points separating him and Robert Shwartzman for the honors. The impressive result across the Honda teams and drivers has Honda leading the manufacturers' standings by 205 points over rival Chevrolet.
