Andrews FCU Transforms Local School Computer Lab With $30,000 Donation

Andrews Federal Credit Union recently made a transformational philanthropic gift to St. Peter's School in Waldorf, Maryland. The credit union donated $30,000 to update the school's computer lab and give students access to technology.

Through the donation, St. Peter's School will add 31 new computers to its computer lab, updating resources and fueling the school's commitment to a robust STEM program. The technology will provide students with enhanced access to modern resources that foster creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning in the fields of science and technology, including flight simulators and drones.

According to Andrews Federal leadership, this investment underscores the credit union's commitment to strengthening the community by promoting education and opportunity. "The upgraded computer lab at St. Peter's School will equip students with essential digital skills, preparing them for future academic and career endeavors," said Damita Robinson, Chief Operating Officer for Andrews Federal Credit Union. "By investing in local schools, we are also investing in the young people who are the future of our community and who will help us to build a stronger Maryland."

School leaders have expressed their gratitude for this partnership, highlighting that the donation will create a more engaging and innovative learning environment, leaving a lasting impact on the students.

Throughout the past year, Andrews Federal has significantly increased its commitment to serving the Maryland community where the credit union is headquartered. The credit union contributed more than $150,000 to support local non-profit organizations and has opened two new branches to serve the area. "We are committed to the future of Maryland," Robinson said. "Each time we fund a project at a local school, provide financial education resources to a community group or support our military service members stationed here, we are making Maryland a stronger, better place for our local residents to live, work and thrive."
