Newly-created website serves as a gateway to UNM news

Information provided by The University of New Mexico communications teams through a variety of sources is the primary way it keeps various audiences and stakeholders informed and up-to-date on all the latest news and events occurring at the state's premier flagship institution and only public health system.

How The University for New Mexico is viewed and perceived by those audiences and how the institution grows and protects its reputation is extremely important across all of its campuses. A favorable impression can help bring in grants and external funding, increase student enrollment, and recruit and retain high-quality faculty and staff while building goodwill and trust along the way.

One of the ways the institution accomplishes its multifaceted approach is by telling and sharing Our Story and pushing that news out publicly. Working in a One University spirit, which is one of UNM's 2040 goals, communication leaders at University Communications and Marketing (UCAM) and Health Sciences Center Marketing & Communications (MarCom) remodeled their newsrooms to create a dynamic and comprehensive platform that serves as a gateway to news and information for both central and branch campuses, and the Health Sciences Center (HSC).

The UNM Newsroom incorporates content from the central campus and the HSC and keeps students, faculty, alumni, and the broader community, including various stakeholders, informed about the latest news and information while showcasing the many ways Lobos are making a positive impact. Featuring a clean and intuitive design, the website offers quick access to news articles, announcements, and updates from its various colleges, schools and departments. Users can easily navigate through categories such as Research, Campus Life, Patient Care, and Community Engagement, among many others, making it simple to find stories that matter most to them. With prominent visuals and well-organized content, the site effectively captures the vibrant spirit of UNM.

The combined UNM Newsroom offers many standout features from its commitment to showcasing the university's academic and research achievements to innovative projects, faculty recognition, student successes, and health and wellness advice. Each article is thoughtfully created and written, often including multimedia elements such as photos and videos to enhance storytelling.

Through its news stories, the UNM Newsroom places a strong emphasis on community and cultural connections offering insights into how research at UNM is making an impact locally, regionally and globally fostering a sense of pride from alumni and also in its various communities.

The site also takes users to individual newsrooms representing the UNM's central and branch campuses and the Health Sciences that regularly feature stories on student and faculty achievements, celebrating UNM's diverse and dynamic community where 'Each of us defines all of us.'
