April 6, 2026 - ROCHESTER, MN - Rochester Public Transit (RPT)'s spring service changes go into effect on Sunday, April 26. Updated route information and timetables are available now at rptride.com.
These changes are designed to improve service reliability, system efficiency and rider experience. The proposed changes prioritize frequent two-way service on corridors with demonstrated demand. While some select low-productivity segments are removed, the overall strategy reallocates service to segments with demonstrated growth potential.
Effective April 26:
Routes operating with two-way service means buses will travel out and back instead of operating in a continuous loop. Riders will board and exit on the opposite side of the street, with most stops located across from one another; however, some stops may shift up to a block to ensure they are placed in a safe and suitable location for a bus stop.
"RPT's spring service changes are focused on making our system more reliable, efficient and responsive to community needs," said Rachel Fautsch , Transit and Parking Director. "By updating routes, improving frequency and shifting resources where they are most effective, we are targeting enhancing the rider experience while keeping long-term sustainability in mind."
