Fact Sheet: President Donald J. Trump Inaugurates The Era of Super Intelligence

USHERING IN SUPER INTELLIGENCE: Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order to replace the term "Artificial Intelligence" ("AI") with "Super Intelligence" ("SI") in the executive branch to recognize the continuously advancing technological frontier and the limitless promise it offers the American people.

• The Order directs all departments and agencies to use the terms "Super Intelligence" and "SI" in official correspondence, public communications, policy documents, and non-statutory documents within the executive branch and to no longer acknowledge the terms "Artificial Intelligence" or "AI".
• The Order directs the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology (APST) to propose a Federal definition of "Super Intelligence" and "SI" that reflects the state of this extraordinary frontier technology and identify any additional executive action necessary to implement the proposed definition.

RECOGNIZING THE IMMENSE OPPORTUNITY OF SI: The United States is the world leader in Super Intelligence, and the Federal government should use a name that reflects the full promise and opportunity of these technologies.

• The United States is the birthplace of Artificial Intelligence and is pushing this frontier forward, having led the world in its development and deployment for over 70 years since its inception as a field of research.
• The name Super Intelligence conveys the true capabilities of the technologies being developed today, unlocking new forms of human creativity and empowering Americans to achieve what was previously impossible-not simply imitating or automating human intelligence as is implied by the term "Artificial Intelligence."
• Using the name Super Intelligence will ensure departments and agencies remain focused on expanding the capabilities and applications of these technologies to empower Americans, strengthen our economy, and improve the lives of the American people.

ADVANCING THE FRONTIER OF AMERICAN INNOVATION: President Trump has taken decisive action to ensure that the United States leads and wins in Super Intelligence, and that all Americans benefit from Super Intelligence and its vast economic benefits.

• Immediately upon returning to office, President Trump eliminated the Biden Administration's overreaching and harmful SI policies, unleashing a new era of innovation.
• Under President Trump's leadership, the Federal Government has announced more than $5 billion for the Genesis Mission, a national effort to harness Super Intelligence to accelerate breakthroughs in science, medicine, energy, and manufacturing.
• In July 2025, the White House released America's AI Action Plan, identifying more than 90 Federal actions to win the SI race by accelerating SI innovation, building American SI infrastructure, and extending U.S. SI leadership around the world.
• In March 2026, the White House unveiled a commonsense, comprehensive National Super Intelligence Policy Framework with legislative recommendations to ensure that every American benefits from this technological revolution.
