Greensboro History Museum Event Features Children’s Home Society

Learn about one of North Carolina's oldest adoption agencies, the Children's Home Society of North Carolina, with local historian Scott P. Culclasure at 6 pm, Monday, April 20 at the Greensboro History Museum, 130 Summit Ave. Culclasure is the author of The Promise of Family: Children's Home Society of North Carolina.

The Promise of Family explores how local Greensboro businessmen worked to establish and maintain a child welfare agency in North Carolina. From the agency's earliest adoption stories to present day efforts, the author dives into the history of the Children's Home Society and the organization's impact on North Carolina families.

Culclasure is a 2022 Greensboro History Museum Voices of a City award winner. His other works include Guide to the Monuments, Guilford Courthouse National Military Park and In Every Good Work: A History of First Baptist Church, Greensboro, North Carolina.

A partnership with the Children's Home Society of North Carolina, this event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Dortch Endowment which was established in 1985 in memory of Greensboro attorney John Johnson Dortch to enhance the museum's offerings of engaging programs.
