'Together with our European partners, Norway is providing funding for military support packages to help Ukraine to defend itself. The military equipment is sourced from the US. Another important contribution is now under way. It is my hope that more European countries will contribute to this initiative to ensure that Ukraine quickly receives much-needed military equipment,' said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

Norway is now providing approximately NOK 2.8 billion through the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) mechanism. This brings Norway's total contribution under the PURL initiative to just over NOK 12.5 billion.

PURL is NATO's programme for coordinating funds and donations of advanced US military equipment to Ukraine. In 2026, Ukraine has indicated a particular need for air defence equipment, support for drone procurements from the Ukrainian defence industry, and long-range artillery ammunition.

The allocation of NOK 2.8 billion to the PURL initiative was announced this morning during a meeting between Ukrainian Minister of Defence Mykhailo Fedorov and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Norway.

'The PURL initiative is the most effective way to supply Ukraine's military forces with the critical weapons the country needs, such as missiles for the Patriot air defence system. The delivery of these weapons through PURL has an immediate impact. PURL is an effective tool for providing prioritised military support to Ukraine,' said Minister of Defence Tore O. Sandvik.

'Norway's support is guided by Ukraine's prioritised military needs. We are in close dialogue with the Ukrainian authorities, our Allies, the EU and other partners on how best to meet these needs,' said Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide.

In line with the Government's proposal, the Storting has agreed to maintain Norway's allocation of NOK 70 billion in military support to Ukraine in 2026. The funds are allocated in close consultation with the Ukrainian authorities to ensure that they are targeted towards the areas that will have the greatest impact for Ukraine.
