Emily Bader on Raising Expectations within Relationships Like We Do with Friendships
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/pz2o3oNgCe5t
Drew: I believe I am the too much girl.
Emily: And that I think that's what we kind of explore is you can't be too much. You just gotta find people who love the muchness. Right? You can't be too much, you really can't, you can find someone, you know.
Drew: Which is why I feel exactly like Tom Blyth in the movie, who just really does get to know you over all these years. I've heard also the cliche that may not be a cliche throughout my whole life, which is friendship is the best foundation for a relationship.
Emily: Yeah, and I think we hold our friends to such high expectations they accept us at like low lows they see us at the worst they don't give up on us they don't give up at all and then sometimes I think we have lower, we need to raise our expectations with relationships because it should be like that too. You need someone who you can be your absolute worst.
Drew: And have license to be all the colors in your Crayola box in front of and then if that is accepted, it's like not only the biggest compliment but it's such a relief.
Emily: Yeah, and it adds so many layers to, you know, the love that you do have that's like sort of Poppy and Alex, they really love each other as friends. There's a line at the end of the movie where Tom's character says love was never our problem. And I think it's so true, they, from the jump, I mean they sort of hated each other for five minutes.
Drew & Emily Reveal What Meteors & Moonstones Mean to Them

Drew: I heard something about you, you like rocks and gems and you're a gem enthusiast, gemologist.
Emily: Uh-huh.
Drew: And these I'm very excited about because I just bought them.
Emily: Is that Moonstone?
Drew: Not only is it moonstone.
Emily: Is that a moonstone ring?
Drew: Yes, OK, so I just got back from Bacalar, Mexico, and so what this, what this year was telling me is that 2026 needs to have moonstone in it. So then I found this ring which is me and my two daughters in Moonstone.
Emily: My dream in life, which will never happen, well when you go on like the, the, meteorite website, they're like, if you think you have one, you don't. But you know, maybe one day, but that's my dream. So anytime I see a shooting star, I'm like desperate to track it down.
Drew: Have you been to a meteor shower where the sky rains stars?
Emily: I haven't, and I think that would increase my odds.
Drew: OK. I think that would be my prescription for you. You can find a local meteor shower if and when, make the plan, go there, and then you just sit and it rains stars. I've never seen anything like it.
Emily: I think there's something so just magical about geology, I think the reason I love rock so much, so like this one, right, the amethyst, sorry, I don't wanna like dip, but this is like raw, this came out of the ground like this, which means that whoever pulled this out of the ground is the first person to touch it. In millions of years since it was formed, right? I'm such a nerd.

Drew: 'Mamma Mia' brings together 3 different men to a wedding in Greece, and if you could invite 3 people from your past to your destination wedding, who would it be?
Emily: From my past? I think I would bring, I would bring Anna Chancellor. She's an incredible British actress who knows how to vacation. OK, I would bring my grandmother because she also knows how to a glass of wine, that lady is ready to go, And then I think I'd bring my best friend Olivia because she's what goes with me everywhere. She went with me to film this movie.
Drew: Yeah, and life is better with your best friend.

Drew: Lastly, in '50 First Dates,' my character Lucy suffers from short-term memory loss.
If you could forget one embarrassing moment from your romantic life, what would it be?
Emily: My first kiss. Oh, it's OK. It's, it, it's OK. I think he'll be fine. We were like 13 and it was, it was one of those that started as a hug and then you just sort of smear your cheeks together until your lips meet. It was tough. I would, I would forget that if I could.
Drew: And yet we're so happy that you remembered it with us today.
