City of Hemet Launches Entrepreneur & Small Business Grant

The City of Hemet Economic Development Department is proud to announce the launch of the Hemet Entrepreneur & Small Business Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, a federal grant initiative designed to foster economic growth, support entrepreneurs and small business start-ups while strengthening the local economy, expanding community services, and creating new job opportunities.

The program provides grant funding of up to $20,000 per approved business to help eligible entrepreneurs establish or grow their operations within the City of Hemet. Funding may be used to support a wide range of business needs, including office equipment, office or commercial space costs, software and subscriptions, specialized equipment, and other eligible start-up expenses.

Program Overview:

The Entrepreneur & Small Business Grant Program offers financial assistance to qualifying individuals and startups across three focused tracks:

1. Kitchen Start-up Grant - Targeted toward new culinary businesses including restaurants, cafés, bakeries, and catering services. Eligible uses include leasehold improvements and purchase of commercial kitchen equipment.
2. Tech Start-up Grant - Supports early-stage ventures in technology, manufacturing, aerospace, semiconductors, and other high-growth sectors. Funding may be used for equipment, specialized infrastructure, and other business-critical needs.
3. Professional Services Start-up Grant - Designed for businesses that provide specialized services such as consulting, technical IT support, legal or business services, enabling entrepreneurs to access capital for professional equipment and working capital.

Application Window:

The grant application period is open from January 9, 2026, at 8:00am through February 5, 2026, at 5:30pm. Applications will be reviewed based on program eligibility requirements, proposed use of funds, and alignment with program goals.
