Statewide - DelDOT Employees Represent State at National Snow Roadeo

DelDOT Maintenance & Operations employees competed at the recent 2024 American Public Works Association Western Snow & Ice Conference and National Snow Roadeo in Loveland, Colorado. The Roadeo is an exciting one-day event that tests the skills and knowledge of equipment operators from around the country.

There were a total of 350 competitors from municipal, county, and state agencies throughout the country, and DelDOT employees participated in the truck competition, and the loader, grader, and skid steer competitions. DelDOT's total team score at the roadeo secured second place overall for the event.

"Our operators perform difficult tasks in every kind of condition throughout the year and it's a great opportunity for them to put their skills to the test," said Secretary of Transportation Nicole Majeski. "We are proud of the employees who represented the department and state at the roadeo and for the excellent work they do everyday."

Alan Smith of Canal District finished 6th overall in the loader competition, and the team of Robert "Cubby" Cubbage and Curtis Reed of Central District finished 7th in the single axle and 12th in the tandem axle competitions. Curtis Reed also placed 30th in the skid steer competition, and Brian Downward of Central District placed 35th in the grader competition.
