Bronson LakeView Hospital to Expand Emergency Room

$15M project moves forward in Paw Paw following CON approval

PAW PAW, Mich. - Bronson Healthcare has received final certificate-of-need approval from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for a nearly $15 million project to renovate, relocate and expand the emergency department at Bronson LakeView Hospital in Paw Paw.

Construction could begin late in the fourth quarter, with completion and occupancy targeted for early 2028.

The planned expansion responds to growing demand for emergency care. Bronson LakeView Hospital reported 24,655 emergency department visits in 2024, a more than 38% increase from five years earlier.

The project includes renovating 7,930 square feet of existing unused space on the west side of the hospital and adding approximately 10,000 square feet of new space on the southwest and northwest sides of the facility.

Planned improvements include a new patient and visitor entrance and waiting area facing Hazen Street, a new ambulance entrance, additional trauma and exam rooms, a nurse station, supply and medication rooms, staff support spaces, and flexibility to support future imaging needs.

Bronson LakeView's current emergency department will remain fully operational during construction to ensure emergency services continue without interruption.
